First Concert of the 2018-2019 Season

January 13, 2018

While demeaning offensive remarks about immigrants inundate the country from the top down, attending the Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert was truly uplifting tonight because it became so obvious that none of it would have been possible without immigrants:

The Piano Concerto was beautifully composed by Russian immigrant Sergei Rachmaninoff, brilliantly executed by Uzbek immigrant Behzod Abduraimov, impeccably conducted by Romanian immigrant Cristian Măcelaru, and captivatingly performed by the DSO which is made-up by many immigrants.

And yet, it is also still true that immigrants don’t owe an explanation nor have to prove their worth with success stories to be deserving of respect and humanity.
